By far this is the best trail food book I own! I have backpacked and paddled for over 40 years and this is the first new approach to trail food that actually works. It has everything I need like precise weights for each recipe and daily/weekly menus, and exact calorie and nutritional information. Great book for backpackers I have tried several of the recipes and they have been excellent. Even some of the more interesting combinations (especially the lunches) were far better than I would have thought. I highly recommend this book to the backpacker that hates to cook, simmer, clean up and generally mess around with food. Many of the recipes in the book have a common theme – boil water, pour, wait and eat. My kind of cooking and much, much better than most of the commercially available freeze dried meals. The prep…

Good Book for Backpacking Meals from the Grocery Store This is a good book for being able to assemble a wide variety of backpacking meals with access only to a good grocery store. The cooking methods are either a pot or freezer bag style cooking with a cozy.
